Every year in New York City, thousands of workers are injured on construction sites, in car accidents, and through the negligence of others, and in most cases their families bear the consequences long after the headlines fade. That reality is what drives the work of personal injury attorneys, and it is also what drives their responsibility to give back to the communities most affected by it.
The Stein Law Group Community Scholarship was created to support the next generation of students pursuing careers in law, criminal justice, pre-law, or public policy. Founded and led by Adam J. Stein, Esq., The Stein Law Group has represented injured New Yorkers across Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan, standing up for workers, families, and individuals who have been harmed through no fault of their own. This scholarship is an extension of that commitment.
The Stein Law Group Community Scholarship awards $1,000 to one deserving student annually. We are proud to support students from across New York City and the surrounding tri-state region who are working toward degrees that reflect a commitment to justice, public service, and community. Whether you are studying to become a lawyer, a paralegal, a policy advocate, or a social worker, we believe your education matters, and we want to help make it possible.
We encourage students who meet the following criteria to apply. To be considered for the Stein Law Group Community Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students alike. Employees of The Stein Law Group and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply. All submitted essays become the property of The Stein Law Group, and by applying, applicants grant the firm permission to publish the winner’s name and essay excerpt for promotional and educational purposes.
To apply, submit an original essay of 750 words responding to the following prompt:
New York is home to some of the nation’s most complex personal injury and labor laws, including Labor Law Section 240, which provides unique protections for construction workers injured in falls. Reflect on a law, policy, or legal protection that you believe has meaningfully improved the lives of working people or vulnerable communities. What made it effective, and what more could be done to strengthen protections for those who are most at risk?
Essays must be your own original work. Save your essay as a Microsoft Word document and attach it to the application form on this page.
Submit your completed application using the form below. Along with your essay, please include your name, email address, phone number, school, year of study, and field of study. You will also need to attach a current transcript or official letter of enrollment.
Applications are due by April 1, 2027. The winner will be selected and notified by May 1, 2027. We are unable to respond to individual inquiries about the scholarship outside of the application form. All necessary information can be found on this page.
